This test measures the real throughput of your connection: how much data passes per second each way, and with what delay. If you are working through a proxy, it measures the channel your traffic actually takes.
What the numbers mean
Download is the receive rate — it governs how fast pages open. Upload is the send rate, which matters when submitting data or uploading files. Ping is the round-trip delay; lower feels more responsive. Jitter is the variation in that delay: high jitter means an unstable link even when the average speed looks fine.
Why speed drops through a proxy
Traffic no longer goes direct — it takes a detour through an intermediate server, and the path grows by the distance to it. Geography contributes more than bandwidth: a proxy in a neighbouring country adds a handful of milliseconds, one on another continent adds a hundred or more. Pick the nearest available country for the job.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the result differ from my ISP's advertised speed?
Your ISP quotes a peak rate on its own network. This measures the whole path to the test server, including Wi-Fi, congestion and routing. A 10–20% gap is normal.
What speed do I need for proxy work?
For scraping and multi-account work, stability and concurrent connections matter more than raw speed. Latency and jitter are more telling than peak megabits.
Why do repeated runs give different numbers?
Speed depends on current network load and the route taken, which varies between runs. Run it a few times and read the range rather than a single figure.
Does this measure my proxy or my ISP?
Whichever channel the browser is currently using. If the proxy is set system-wide or in the browser, it measures the proxy; if only inside a separate program, it measures your normal connection.
